'Tri Shutter Card'

I have been seeing a LOT of cool stuff on Split Coast Stampers lately, it is a great place to browse! I found this tri shutter card, and Googled the directions and found some very easy ones HERE. To see a ton of other examples of this card, check out here. This card looks so complicated but it is very easy to make, I promise ;) There is a bit of cutting involved to decorate it this way, but the actual card is very simple.

Here's my first sample...

I used 7 Gypsies paper for the two patterns, and my sewing machine with white thread. I sewed each piece of 2 layers before adhering it to the cardstock base. The scalloped box on the front is made with Nestabilities dies and my Cuttlebug. The tree stamp is from FancyPants, which I embossed with UTEE and then filled in with Peeled Paint and Spiced Marmalade Distress Stickles. The 'Hello' stamp is from the $1 section at Michaels, the parentheses are from Technique Tuesday and stamped with Staz-On Jet Black ink. The butterflies are from Making Memories and some misc rhinestones for added bling!

The second sample is also made with 7 Gypsies paper, but only one pattern. I cut each piece and then heat embossed the paper with a flourish stamp set, VersaMark watermark ink and gold embossing powder. I used 2 layers of matting for this one instead of 1, and I wanted to sew around it with black thread, but that didn't work out so well! For some reason my machine kept breaking the thread, so I had to tear it out. After I did that, I decided the holes it left behind were kind of cool, so I 'stitched' all the rest of the pieces in my machine without thread. The sentiment stamp is also a $1 one from Michael's. The wings under the flowers are from FancyPants, which I stamped with watermark ink, heat embossed with sparkly opaque powder, and cut out. The front panel was cut with my Nestabilities and Cuttlebug again, and this time I dry embossed the whole thing before putting it on the card.
